OnePlus 3 gets a £20 price hike in the UK following Brexit

You can’t say you weren’t warned beforehand, and now the OnePlus 3 is officially £20 more expensive. Or rather it will be, starting July 11th, so consider this your last chance to buy the handset at a lower price.

A few days ago, OnePlus warned that it might be hiking up prices for its new OnePlus 3 handset in the UK. The move was blamed on Brexit, and the inherent financial instability caused by it. The pound has been losing its value ever since the referendum’s results were declared, and companies are now forced to respond.

The OnePlus 3 is positioned as an affordable flagship, and so far it has had a great reception. OnePlus says it’s continuing to see “significant demand” in the UK after it recently announced that order shipments were being delayed for Brits, which it blamed on a "schedule misalignment" and "customs issues". The price hike, up to £329, might put off some buyers, or at least slow demand a bit, and give the company a chance to catch up with orders. Of course, the real deadline of July 11th, after which the OnePlus 3 becomes more expensive, also works as good marketing.

It’s important to note that the OnePlus 3 is the only device to get a price hike, with the company’s other accessories and devices staying at their current prices.
