Details about OnePlus’ upcoming flagship for the second half of this year have emerged. Considering the trend that the firm has been following for naming its phones, the upcoming device is expected to be called the OnePlus 8T. The report states that the phone might sport a 6.55-inch display with a 120Hz high refresh rate panel. However, the display resolution details are not yet known.
The information is interesting because with the OnePlus 8 series phones, the firm reserved the higher refresh rate option for the Pro model, with the regular OnePlus 8 sporting a 90Hz display. While the screen size on the 8T is supposedly identical, the improved panel will be a welcome addition. It is also not clear if the firm chooses to increase the bar for the 8T Pro by debuting a 144Hz screen like in the ASUS ROG Phone 3 and the RedMagic 5S.
The report also suggests that the phone will sport a quad-camera array, with an improved 48MP unit doing main camera duties. The other lenses include a 16MP wide-angle camera, a 5MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. The SoC is expected to be bumped up to a Snapdragon 865+. Other specifications, such as RAM and storage configurations, are expected to be similar to the OnePlus 8. Another rumor from earlier in May pointed towards the possibility of support for 65W fast charging.
Lastly, the report states that OnePlus could be planning to launch the phone by the end of this month or in early October. The said timelines match with the launch period of the 7T-series flagship, which took place in September.
