OnePlus is set to launch its first mid-range smartphone since the OnePlus X on July 21. Called the OnePlus Nord, the device has slowly been getting revealed, with many of the internal specs and camera details already being known. One thing the company has been pretty secretive about is the phone"s design, but today, the exterior of the OnePlus Nord was revealed by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei in an interview with YouTube creator Marques Brownlee (MKBHD).
The first thing that you might notice is that the phone comes in a very light shade of blue, which is the color OnePlus has been using for most of its teases for the Nord. Unlike the company"s flagship, the OnePlus 8 Pro, which has a frosted glass finish on the back, the Nord is glossy, so it"s much more reflective and more likely to show fingerprints. There"s also a grey variant.
The image also shows off the camera setup, with all four rear-facing cameras lined up vertically in a single camera bump. The LED flash is placed next to the camera bump. As for the front-facing cameras, you can see the duo of sensors in the top left corner of the display area, pretty much as you"d expect.
You can also see some of the minor details, such as the bottom-firing speaker grill, the SIM-card slot, and USB Type-C port, all of which are on the bottom of the phone. There seems to be no headphone jack, however.
For those interested, the interview goes over a couple of design prototypes that OnePlus considered before reaching the final look. The company also talks about the cost of certain components, such as NFC chips, the headphone jacks, and IP certification - which the OnePlus Nord won"t have. During the interview, Carl Pei also wears a blue pair of true wireless earbuds, which could be the OnePlus Buds that will be announced alongside the Nord. You can watch the full interview here.
