OnePlus promises 30-hour battery for the OnePlus Buds

After months of leaks, OnePlus confirmed earlier this week that it"s launching its first-ever true wireless earbuds soon, with an announcement set for July 21, alongside the OnePlus Nord. Today, CEO Pete Lau took to the brand"s community forums to talk about the some of the details of the OnePlus Buds.

In terms of design, the company opted for what it"s calling an "half-in-ear" design, which you can kind of get a glimpse of in the image above. It means part of the earbuds will be outside your ear, similar to Apple"s AirPods, and OnePlus says this provides more comfort. The buds are also pretty light, at 4.6 grams each, plus 36 grams for the charging case.

Perhaps most impressive about the OnePlus Buds is the battery life, with OnePlus promising that the earbuds alone can last seven hours on a charge. Paired with the charging case, they can last up to 30 hours without plugging into an outlet - sadly, there"s no indication of wireless charging support on the case. For reference, the second-generation AirPods promise up to five hours by themselves, and up to 24 hours with the charging case.

Of course, OnePlus also says it worked to ensure the experience is great across any device, but it also made "deeper optimizations" for OnePlus phones specifically. This is fairly common among true wireless earbuds, and it means there may be better options out there if you don"t have a OnePlus phone, but if you do have one, these will probably be the way to go as far as seamlessness goes.
