A few months still remain before the OnePlus Two - or whatever the company ends up calling it - goes on sale, but rumors are already swirling over what the new handset might offer. So far, OnePlus has launched only one handset, but it remains hugely popular, and with good reason: it"s an excellent device.
Expectations are high for its successor, with many potential buyers anticipating a similar blend of cutting edge specs and low prices. If information leaked today proves accurate, the OnePlus Two could be quite a beast.
GizChina reports that the device will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, 4GB of RAM and a 3300mAh battery. It has been suggested that the Two will cost around 2,699 CNY ($430 USD), but this is far from certain.
The device is also said to have a 5.5-inch display - the same size as the OnePlus One. Despite the popularity of the One, many have complained that it is simply too big, especially for one-handed use. The company"s CEO, Carl Pei, said recently that OnePlus has agonized over the issue of screen size, changing their minds several times before settling on a final choice.
If it"s true, not everyone will be happy with that decision - but they may well approve of the reported bump to 2K resolution (most likely 2560x1440px). The same sources behind the report say, however, that OnePlus may be working "to slim down the overall physical size of the phone". That would line up with other recent reports, suggesting that the device may have an edge-to-edge display with ultra-thin bezels.
That may well correspond too with comments made by Pei last week, in which he said that the company"s new phone "will surprise people".
We must stress that none of these specs have been verified by a second independent source, so they could well prove to be the stuff of wishful thinking. But many will be quietly hoping that they prove to be accurate - and if they do, the OnePlus Two could be very impressive indeed.
