Yesterday, OnePlus unveiled its new flagship-class smartphone, the 3, offering a compelling blend of high-end specs at a remarkably low price of $399. OnePlus is perhaps best known for its "flagship-killer" handsets - but last year, it launched the X, a device that it said was aimed at "a different type of audience; perhaps for those who appreciate design over specs".
The OnePlus X was priced from just $249, and as we explained in our review of the device, it was pretty good too, although it certainly left room for improvement.
But at the OnePlus 3 launch event, the company"s CEO Pete Lau revealed that there will be no successor to the X. As Engadget reports, Lau said that OnePlus will now focus on a single "true flagship" product line in the future.
Lau also said that the company will consolidate its development efforts for OxygenOS, which is offered around the world, with those of HydrogenOS, which is only offered in China. But he added that he would also like the company to provide more after-sale services, and more lifestyle products, such as its new line of bags.
