The OnLive streaming PC game service has been live here in North America since June 2010, but in just over a month the service will be made available to gamers from across the pond. OnLive issued a press release today announcing that the service will be available in the UK from September 22. OnLive says there will be over 100 games available for the UK launch. The company will partner with local UK telecom BT for the launch. UK gamers can already sign up to gain access to OnLive when it launches at the OnLive web site.
The OnLive UK service will basically offer the same features as the US version, with gamers able to stream and play full PC games and have them play on most any PC or Mac with a broadband Internet connection. They can also play on a TV with the OnLive Microconsole. Users can either rent or purchase individual games or subscribe to the PlayBack service which has over 70 full games that can be played as much as the user wants for one monthly fee. UK gamers will also be able to play online and chat with their North American counterparts.
OnLive has already announced plans to offer the service in Belgium at some point and promises to have service in other European countries in the future. Here in the US, OnLive has already announced plans to integrate its service inside certain big screen televisions later this year. It also plans to add full support for iPhone, the iPad and Android devices. The company already has a free iPad apps that lets users view others playing OnLive games but the user cannot actually play OnLive games on the iPad yet.
