Opera 47 has launched following a shorter than usual development cycle and, as a result, has come with fewer major additions. Two headlining features will help greatly when it comes to convenience. Firstly, users can now export all their bookmarks, and secondly the recently closed tab has more capacity for entries.
It’s hard to believe but until Opera 47, users haven’t been able to export their bookmarks since the Presto days. With the latest release, though, you can export content from your speed dial, bookmarks bar, and other folders into an HTML file. The addition of this feature will come as a relief to those looking for an easy way to pack up their bags and move away from Opera to a different browser, if they want.
Following popular demand, Opera has expanded the capacity for the number of items that can fit inside the recently closed tab in the tabs bar. Opera will now hold up to 32 closed tabs, up from 10. This will greatly help users who need to recover content from closed tabs.
Some other improvements to the browser include two new refresh rates for the news feed – you can choose intervals of three or six hours, while issues with video playback have been fixed on Windows 7 and macOS; everyone should notice a smoother video pop-up player. With regards to the browser UI, the colours and appearance have been sharpened up and, to improve the dark theme, favicons have now been made a bit lighter to make them more visible on the bookmarks bar. For those using the light theme, you’ll notice that the colour contrasting has been improved for better readability.
Lastly, in the interests of improving security, in Opera 47, .scf files have been added to the risky file protection list on Windows in order to better protect your system. Opera 47 is based on Chromium 60 and incurs the latter"s security patches too.
