Opera Mini launched for Tizen-based Samsung Gear S

Opera has announced the availability of the Opera Mini browser for the Samsung Gear S smartwatch.

The Opera Mini browser has been available on a number of platforms ranging from feature phones to smartphones and gaming consoles to televisions. It was recently launched for Windows Phone and is also the default browser on Microsoft"s Asha and Nokia X devices. Now, this lightweight browser has landed on the Samsung Gear S, which is a smartwatch running on the Tizen operating system.

According to a post on the official Opera blog, the Mini browser has been optimized for the Gear S smartwatch to facilitate convenient browsing on the small screen of the wearable device.  Opera Mini is known for its low data usage and fast page loads using cloud-based caching, which is present in this version as well.

Additional features include one tap access to favourite links and social networks through Smart Page, and touch-based gestures for easy navigation. Samsung Gear S users can head to the Galaxy Apps Store and download Opera Mini for free
