Well, who could have expected this? Opera Mini, just accepted a few days ago into Apple’s App Store, has now topped every single App Store list as the most downloaded free app.
It’s not uncommon for apps to top the charts for several countries at release, but it is a rare sight to see an app dominate all 22 countries at once. When Opera announced Opera Mini for iPhone OS, many were skeptical that Apple would even allow a competing non-WebKit browser into their own store. With Monday’s approval though, it seems that many iPhone and iPod touch owners are genuinely interested to see what Opera Mini has to offer.
Opera Mini claims to provide the fastest browsing experience on slower connections due to its server-side data compression feature. Other features include Speed Dial, unlimited tab browsing, and full page searching. Click here to download through the iTunes App Store.
