Opera Software has announced R3 (Reborn 3), a new project that will “define a new standard for web browsing”. Not much is known about the project as the firm is only teasing it right now with a dedicated page that allows you to sign up for further news. Whatever it is that it’s planning to announce, it has promised that “the future is close”.
Writing in a blog post, Opera said:
“R3 is going to define a new standard for web browsing in an unparalleled way. We wouldn’t want to spoil all the good bits for you just yet, so be sure to stay up to date on our social media channels and stick around for our launch. At this moment, you can head to opera/reborn3 and sign up to receive a reminder to download R3 on launch day.
At Opera, we work hard on defining new, future-oriented standards for the web and we’re about to unveil something new.”
If you’ve got a good memory, you’ll likely remember that Opera previously announced R2 which culminated in the launch of Opera Touch on April 25, 2018. The R2 launch was teased 12 days earlier so we could be waiting about two weeks to see what exactly R3 is.
One clue we do have is that the landing page shows a laptop in shadow so whatever Opera Software is cooking up it’s likely going to be desktop related.
