Oppo A7x goes official in China; features a 6.3-inch display, Helio P60 SoC, 4GB RAM

Oppo has today announced its latest Oppo A7x smartphone in China, which is quite similar to the Oppo F9 that was launched in India last month.

It appears that the Oppo A7x is the rebranded model of the Oppo F9 for the Chinese market. Apart from the internal storage, front-facing camera, and battery, all other specifications of the smartphone are the same as that of Oppo F9.

The phone has a 6.3-inch waterdrop display, named over the small notch on top in the shape of a water droplet. The display offers a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels along with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio.

The Oppo A7x is powered by MediaTek"s Helio P60 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz, along with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. It packs 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage while the F9 has 64GB of internal storage. There"s a microSD card slot, enabling you to further expand the storage capacity up to 256GB. The handset also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor along with support for face unlock feature.

Coming to the camera department, the phone comes with horizontally stacked dual camera sensors, consisting of a 16MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor along with an LED flash. The AI camera includes features such as scene recognition and facial recognition, among others. The front-facing 8MP snapper has a Beautify mode that enhances the captured selfies. The F9, on the other hand, is equipped with a 16MP front-facing shooter.

The handset is running Android Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2 that brings a new Do Not Disturb mode along with several AI-powered features such as business cards and documents scanning, smart sidebar, among others. The device is fuelled by a 4,230mAh battery compared to the 3,500mAh battery on F9.

The Oppo A7x is priced at ¥2,099, which roughly converts to $306. The phone is offered in two color options -- Star Purple and Ice Flame Blue. It is currently available for pre-order via Oppo"s official website and will start shipping on 14 September. For those who pre-order the smartphone, the company is also bundling Oppo MH133 headphones for free.
