Oppo's rumored foldable flip phone may give some fierce competition to Galaxy Z Flip lineup

While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold lineup faces some serious competition from rival brands, no one has been able to produce a clamshell foldable phone that"s as good as the Galaxy Z Flip. Going forward, it could be a very different scenario as Chinese tech brand Oppo is allegedly working on its first-ever clamshell foldable phone to go head to head against the Galaxy Z Flip lineup.

The Oppo"s rumored foldable flip phone details are not out, except that it"ll reportedly have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chip inside it. But despite being unaware of what"s inside it, we can say that what the Chinese brand will bring to the market will be more attractive than the Z Flip lineup to many people because the former will be significantly cheaper than Samsung"s clamshell foldable phone.

According to sources, the alleged clamshell flip phone will carry a price tag of CNY 5,000, which roughly translates to $756 or €718. In China, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 is priced at CNY 7,399 (~$1,119 or €1,063).

If the pricing details are true, the purported Oppo clamshell foldable phone has the edge over its competitors. And since the company has already shown that it can do a better job than Samsung in developing a compact foldable phone like the Oppo Find N 5G, people won"t be that much hesitant to give the company"s first flip phone a try. Of course, the Chinese brand will have to make sure that its flip phones are as appealing as the Find N 5G.

There is no clarity over whether the alleged Oppo flip phone will be available for international users. But if it launches outside China, will you buy one? Let us know in the comments.
