OPPO's R17 could have a more elegant approach to the loathed display notch

Although looks are subjective, it seems that many loathe the recent trend of notched displays that are found on Android handsets. While it doesn"t look like this is going to change any time soon, OPPO might be launching a phone with a more elegant take on the notch.

The rumor mill has been churning out information in regard to the unannounced OPPO R17, and in the most recent leak of the alleged front display, the image shows off a more elegant approach to the hated display notch. In the photos, we can see that the notch is minimized, making room for just the front-facing camera.

While it does look much better than current solutions, one has to wonder where the firm is planning to stash the proximity and ambient light sensors. By taking a close look at just the display glass, we can see that above the cutout on the display, there is a small slit, presumably meant for the earpiece grill.

Not much is known when it comes to the specifications of the R17. But if an early rumor about the device is true, the handset could arrive with an impressive 10GB RAM, but perhaps best of all, the display will look a tad bit sleeker when compared to the firm"s R15 model that released earlier in the year.
