The next-generation consoles are less than a week away from launching and upgrades are coming in fast for current-gen games. The latest title to receive a next-gen upgrade is Ori and the Will of the Wisps from Moon Studios, with its new update today carrying Xbox Series X|S enhancements among other features.
While 4K and 60/120FPS modes are the standard nowadays, Moon Studios has gone even further to include an optional 6K supersampled mode on the Xbox Series X for the title. The output will be shrunk down to 4K at 60FPS, meaning the image quality should be noticeably better when playing using this mode compared to standard 4K, with less jagged edges.
Without enabling this optional setting, Will of the Wisps will run at 4K 120FPS on the Xbox Series X featuring the "highest Graphics and Visual Effects settings" according to the developer. Over on the Xbox Series S, the game will also offer two modes, 1080p 120FPS or 4K at 60FPS. Both consoles will feature "instant input response, faster loading times," enhanced audio, and smart delivery.
The update also comes with sharpness settings, quick access, and backup saves across "all Xbox platforms" (including PC), which can be accessed from the in-game menu. The PC version is also receiving some features and changes of its own with today"s update, including Low, Balanced, and High graphics modes (with supersampling on the latter), performance and graphics improvements, as well as low and high-quality audio options, among others more.
The release notes for today"s Ori and the Will of the Wisps update can be seen here. It doesn"t appear as though the Nintendo Switch version is receiving any changes. Thanks to this update, Xbox Series X|S players will be able to jump into this enhanced version of the game on day one.
The Xbox Game Studios-published title released earlier this year to high praise, with Neowin"s own Vishal Laul giving it a 9/10 verdict in his review.
