The details on Microsoft"s plans for its upcoming Outlook.com Premium subscription service have been discovered on one of the pages to sign-up for an invite into the new Outlook.com website.
Long-time Microsoft leaker, WalkingCat, tweeted out a link to one of Microsoft"s online pages, in which it was offering the chance to sign-up for an invite into the new Outlook.com:
This page detailed some of the main offerings coming to the Outlook.com Premium service. According to the information given, people who decide to upgrade will receive:
- Five personalised email addresses
- Sharing calendars, contacts and files will be easier; sharing relationships across personalised domains
- Ad-free access to Outlook.com
- Access to the new Outlook.com
Out of those features listed, the personalised email addresses appears to be the main calling factor. It will allow users to assign their own domain names to their Outlook.com email addresses. For example, you could have johndoe@myawesomedomain.com, rather than johndoe@outlook.com.
To offer this service, Microsoft has partnered with GoDaddy. You will receive your domain for free for the first year, and after that you will be required to pay GoDaddy"s annual standard rates.
When signing-up for the service you will be redirected to a page similar to the above screenshot, in which you can type in the domain you would like and find out whether it is available or not. The good news is that from this screenshot, we can see that the service is not limited to just .com top-level-domains, you can enter any of your choice, and if it is valid, you can purchase it.
One of the other features is access to the new Outlook.com, which began rolling out to users earlier this week, sporting several upgrades and improvements to the email experience.
