Over 100 million copies of Minecraft have now been sold

Minecraft has passed a significant milestone, as Mojang announced today that it has sold over 100 million copies of the popular game.

Mojang also noted that if the people who bought Minecraft made up a nation, it would be the 12th largest in the world, behind Japan. In fact, the game has players from not only every country on the planet, but every continent, as four copies have been sold to users in Antarctica.

Minecraft has continued to expand since Mojang was purchased by Microsoft almost two years ago. The game has been launched on new platforms and Minecraft in Education was made available as well.

It"s also heading to new markets, as Microsoft recently announced that a new version that will be tailored for the Chinese market.

More recently, the firm banned advertising in the game. Companies will no longer be able to use the platform to promote their brands. Well, unless its a partner, such as when Nintendo and Microsoft teamed up to bring Super Mario to Minecraft.
