After the ambiguous teaser earlier this week, Overwatch fans can finally rest easy with the theory crafting as Blizzard has now made available a brand new map for the game"s Public Test Region (PTR) on the PC. The new map, titled Horizon Lunar Colony, has players battling it out on the moon and arrives equipped with the Assault game mode.
The new map"s preview trailer is seen above, giving a glimpse at what players will experience while playing, with some marvelous views of the Earth sprinkled in. The trailer includes an informative voice-over from Winston as well, supplying viewers with an overview of the colony"s history and the incident that occurred at the facility.
In addition, Blizzard has released the official description for the Horizon Lunar Colony with the video, which goes as follows:
Built as a first step towards humanity"s renewed exploration of space, the Horizon Lunar Colony’s goal was to examine the effects of prolonged extraterrestrial habitation—on human and ape alike. The scientists’ research proved incredibly promising...until, suddenly, all contact and communications with the base were lost.
Now, many years later, attacking and defending teams must return to the moon and battle for control of the colony’s facilities, all while they discover clues as to the fate of its previous inhabitants.
Full patch notes and instructions on how to enter the Overwatch PTR is available on the official blog, which includes some UI updates, hero balances, as well as a plethora of bug fixes. Keep in mind the Overwatch Anniversary Event is still live, with plenty of cosmetic goodies to grab until June 12.
