OxygenOS beta brings Android 7.0 Nougat to the OnePlus 3

OnePlus and its developer community have been churning out new builds of OxygenOS at a rapid pace for quite some time now. The company even promised to deliver a beta build based on Android Nougat by the end of November and the final update by the end of the year. Now, just hours before the end of the month, the first OxygenOS beta powered by Android 7.0 is available for the OnePlus 3.

According to the company"s announcement, users will need to manually flash the update package for the OxygenOS Open Beta 8 to their devices, as it will not be delivered over-the-air. Features included in the beta build are as follows:

  • Upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat
  • New Notifications Design
  • New Settings Menu Design
  • Multi-Window View
  • Notification Direct Reply
  • Custom DPI Support
  • Added Status Bar Icon Options
  • Added Quick Launch For 3rd Party Applications
  • Improved Shelf Customization

OnePlus has mentioned that Android Pay may not work properly with this version. Other than that, users should expect performance hiccups or instability since it is a pre-release build.

Interested users can grab the update package from links provided in OnePlus" forum post. If you do not know about flashing updates, we"d recommend that you wait for the final release builds which will be pushed to your device by the end of the year.
