Today, Panasonic announced the Toughbook 31, a new rugged Windows 10 laptop. If you"re not familiar with the company"s Toughbook lineup, it"s one of the top lines of rugged PCs, designed to withstand all kinds of extreme conditions for use in the field.
And one of the key features for operating in the field is 4G LTE, which is now included in the Toughbook 31. Along with LTE-Advanced, there"s also a dedicated GPS modem. Panasonic also says that the new model has faster DDR4 memory, and 32GB is now standard along with a 256GB SSD.
"Today’s announcement reflects the evolution of the best-selling TOUGHBOOK 31. The newly enhanced device is addressing the ever‐changing needs of mobile workers in demanding industries, including utilities, public sector and federal government professionals,” said Brian Rowley, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management, Panasonic System Solutions Company of North America. “In industries where failure is not an option, the TOUGHBOOK 31’s improved features and faster processing power will provide customers with the competitive edge they need to keep working, no matter the challenges.”
It comes with a Core i5-7300U vPro CPU with an option for a Core i7. Panasonic says that this offers 19% improved performance and 42% improved graphics performance. Battery life is getting better as well, as you can hot swap the batteries.
The Panasonic Toughbook 31 will be available in December, starting at $3,699.
