For beta users, the app is now at version 4.10 and the changelog includes one single new feature - the ability for parents to keep track of their children:
Microsoft Family on Launcher: Parents with Launcher can now view last known location and app activity for their children"s Android phones running Launcher! (Requires Android 4.4+ for parent devices and 5.0+ for child devices)
As the wording makes plain, the feature won"t work with iOS devices, but its presence on Android is still welcome. For the feature to work, you"ll need to add family members to your Microsoft account. Interestingly, the changelog reads "What"s New for v4.10 phase 1", so it"s possible that the company is planning to add more features in this update before it makes its way to the general public.
Speaking of general users, they too are getting an update today, which includes all the features available in the beta version made available at the start of the month:
- Improved Home screen import logic
- Sort your apps alphabetically in folders
- Display names of apps or folders in your dock
- Customizable gesture for pressing the Home button from the Home screen
- New gesture option that lets you quickly lock your Home screen
Unfortunately, neither update includes the Timeline features announced at Build, but it"s still possible that the company will add them in future updates to version 4.10.
