The team behind the Humble Bundle "pay what you want" sales events have concentrated on games, both on the PC and on mobile platforms. The latest such event was the Humble Indie Bundle 6, which generated over $2 million in two weeks. That changed today with the announcement of the first ever Humble eBook Bundle.
The official Humble Bundle website has posted up word that for the next two weeks, it will be selling eight science fiction and fantasy eBooks. Six of the books will be available for any price: Pirate Cinema by Cory Doctorow, Pump Six by Paolo Bacigalupi, Zoo City by Lauren Beukes, Invasion by Mercedes Lackey, Stranger Things HappenĀ and Magic for Beginners, both by Kelly Link.
If a person decides to pay more than the average Humble eBook Bundle price, they will receive two more books; Signal to Noise vy Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean and Old Man"s War by John Scalz. As of this writing, the average price is just over $10. Normally, buying these eBooks would cost $52.
In addition to the eBooks, users may also wish to donate to three different charities: the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Child"s Play, and the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. The bundle ends in two weeks.
