'Pay with Google' starts rolling out to consumers

Back in May, Google promised to make paying for that new gadget or scrumptious pizza on mobile devices easier, thanks to it integrating "Pay with Google" APIs into its development tools for websites and apps. Today, the company noted in its latest blog post, that users of its mobile operating system and visitors to select eCommerce sites can now use the information linked to their Google accounts to make payment easier at check-out.

The new solution aims to make it easier for consumers to buy products and services, but more importantly, make the check-out process seamless since it is the place where consumers "give up" most of the time. The API links your Google account details to the website you wish to purchase from, that is if you have any credit card details linked to products like Google Play, YouTube, Chrome, or Android Pay.

At launch, the new payment system will be integrated into 15 websites, including Wish, Fancy, Doordash, and Dice. Several other online stores and service providers will join the fray in the coming months including AirBNB, which means that next holiday could be a lot easier to pay for in the future. The payment protocol is available worldwide as well, with companies like iFood in Brazil already having it integrated.

As for developers, the new set of tools are available right now, and apparently only requires a few lines of code - which is always a good thing. More importantly, Google will not charge any transaction fees on payments received through the new portal. However, if you need access to a specific payment portal, Google partnered with Braintree, Adyen, and Vantiv, with WorldPay and others coming soon.

You can check out the full list of partners at the source link below, and developers can check out the documentation relating to the new API here.
