PCMark 8 benchmark coming for Windows RT, iOS and Android

Earlier this month, Futuremark released PCMark 8 Professional Edition, the latest version of its PC benchmarking software. PCMark 8 was released for Windows 7 and 8 but today Futuremark announced it will also launch versions of the software for Windows RT, iOS and Android devices as well.

Futuremark"s press release states:

Like its Windows counterpart, PCMark for mobile platforms will feature benchmark tests based on common use scenarios. By focusing on the activities and tasks that smartphone and tablet owners perform every day, PCMark mobile will provide a view of real-world system performance and battery life for modern mobile devices.

PCMark"s tests are designed to offer performance stats on PCs running test against regular activities such as web browsing, photo editing and video chat, among others. Futuremark did not give a specific release date for the new, mobile, versions of PCMark 8.

Futuremark also sells 3DMark, another software program designed to gain information on graphics hardware in PCs and mobile devices. The company has released versions of 3DMark for Windows Vista, 7 and 8, as well as Android devices. Futuremark has promised to release 3DMark for iOS and Windows RT but so far those versions have yet to materialize.
