With the launch of Pebble"s SDK 2.0 it has opened up a wider plain for developers to create more complex and inspiring applications. While there are plenty of watch faces, applications for health, and informational tools, there is a noticeable lack of games for the Pebble. Pebble is well aware of this and is aiming to fix it.
Pebble is heading to GDC (Game Developers Conference) to promote the Pebble SDK 2.0 as a gaming platform. While there are currently a handful of games already on the Pebble app store, Pebble thinks that it can take this a lot further. By promoting the SDK at GDC it hopes to show potential studios and developers that a market exists for casual Pebble games. The app store is host to games like chess, Tetris, Pong, and others, which are mainly clones of popular games or older generation games that have been previously released.
Currently, these are the top ten games on the Pebble app store:
- Tiny Bird (FlappyBird clone)
- MiniDungeon
- Pebtris (Tetris clone)
- Ledge Climber
- Chess
- Falldown
- Orbtime
- Pebloid (Arkanoid clone)
- Blackjack
- Ask the Helix Fossil
To celebrate Pebble"s first foray into courting studios and developers, they have released three new games (Mr Runner, Hatchi, and IconPopQuiz) on the Pebble app store, which are available starting today.
