PHP, a popular open source dyanmic programming language for webservers, has just released version 5.01.
"The PHP Development Team would like to announce the immediate availability of PHP 5.0.1. This is a maintenance release that in addition to many non-critical bug fixes also includes new UNIX and Windows installation docs which are now auto-generated from the PHP Manual."
The changelog lists a mass of updates, fixes, and new features. PHP 5"s main advantage over the version 4.xx tree is the way it does object orientated programming (OOP). However, PHP 5 hasn"t had the same level of exposure as 4.xx, and is thus not recommended for the mainstream just yet.
