Apple is rumoured to be announcing an iPad Mini in October at a special event, and many rumours have circulated the web about how the device will look. Now a physical mock-up of the purported iPad Mini has been posted for sale on the Chinese marketplace Taobao.
Created based on the rumours, the mock-up device shows off a new dock connector, slimmer design, and side bezels more akin to an iPod touch than an iPad. It also has cutouts for the antenna and SIM card slot.
The iPad Mini is also rumoured to have a 7.85-inch OLED display, front and rear cameras, and an ITO coating to reduce signal interference. Foxconn and TPK Holding are set to supply the laminated coating for the device, while LG Display and AU Optronics will supply the displays.
There"s no word on the resolution of the display but rumours for both a Retina and iPad 2 resolution (1024x768 pixels) have circulated. No pricing information is yet available, of course, but it"s widely believed that Apple will price the tablet below the $399 price tag of the iPad 2.
