We’ve known now for some time that HTC was planning an upper mid-range plastic version of its M8 flagship and we’ve even seen some bits and pieces. But today we finally got the full picture as HTC China unveiled the device for a giveaway ahead of the actual launch on June 3rd.

The HTC M8 Ace is the company’s new handset aimed at disrupting Samsung’s Galaxy S5 dominance in the Android market. But don’t let that “mid-range” moniker fool you, this device packs a punch and looks great.
The M8 Ace, or “Vogue Edition”, follows the award-winning design of the M7 but comes with plastic covers. The phone will be available in 4 color variants with the white and red being glossy while the black and blue reminding us of the matte, rubbery feel of the HTC 8X.
We also got confirmation on the device’s internals and it seems the previous rumors were spot-on. The M8 Ace can easily go head to head with the Galaxy S5, having a 2.5 Ghz Snapdragon 801 SoC, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, Motion Launch gestures , Boom Sound speakers and extreme-power saving mode.

The dual ultrapixel camera on the back has been replaced with a more conventional 13-megapixel shooter. There’s no exact info on the screen but Endgaget quotes its sources saying it’s the same 5-inch 1080p panel found on the M8.
With the launch of the device so close at hand it’ll be very interesting to see how aggressive HTC will be with the pricing. Previous rumors suggested this would be one of its major selling points, and the pricing will supposedly deeply undercut the Galaxy S5 ($850), meaning pricing should be in the $550 - $600 range.
Alongside the M8 Ace, HTC is also rumoured to be working on another two variants for its One M8 flagship, the Plus and the Advance, with both going for superior specs.
