Gamescom 2018 announcements keep coming our way, and Microsoft has some news for fans of PlayerUnknown"s Battlegrounds. After an initial release in December of last year, the game is finally leaving the Xbox Game Preview program on September 4, when the full product release will be available digitally and in retail stores.
The full release of the game will include some new content for players, including a new map and a new game mode. Here"s what you can look forward to:
- The new Sanhok map, which is a smaller map for faster-paced matches, with some of the dynamics of the game being adjusted to bring the game to an end more quickly. The stage will also come with new weapons and vehicles, and mark the debut of dynamic weather changes on the Xbox One.
- The new War Mode in which teams have to try to kill each other as many times as possible. Rather than disappearing once they get killed, players are continuously respawned, and the team with the most kills wins.
- The introduction of in-game currency to buy cosmetic items, the Event Pass for the Sanhok map, and more. More details regarding this system will be announced closer to the full release.
Additionally, the full release of the game will feature achievements which carry over from the preview version available so far, so your current progress won"t be lost.
Xbox One players can also get exclusive customization items for a limited time to celebrate the full release of the game. The Xbox #1.0/99 Set will feature clothing inspired by the colors of the Xbox brand. The additional content will be included in the retail version of the game and those who go digitally can download it starting September 4, though, as mentioned above, these will be available for a limited time.
The retail release also features a new take on the well-known official art of the game, introducing some different colors to the palette.
Microsoft also announced a new Xbox Wireless controller inspired by PlayerUnknown"s Battlegrounds, which not only features a unique design but also offers rubber grips on the shoulder triggers.
