Playstation 3 gamers who have been awaiting word on when the promised Playstation 3D Display will finally start shipping can now breath easier. The official Playstation blog has announced that the $499 24 inch display will begin shipping to stores and to pre-orders on November 13.
As we have mentioned before, all of the units will include a set of 3D glasses, an HDMI cable and a free copy of the recent Playstation 3 exclusive arcade racing game MotorStorm: Apocalypse. People who pre-ordered the display before September 30 will also get a second free PS3 game, the sci-fi first person shooter Resistance 3.
Sony has also posted up an FAQ responding to some of the more popular questions from PS3 fans about the display. In terms of ports, Sony said that the display will have two HDMI 1.4 inputs and one component cable input. There"s also a stereo headphone output. The monitor also has support for Edge LED backlighting which should allow for improved brightness for the display.
The new SimuView feature gives the Playstation 3D Display the ability to allow two people wearing 3D glasses to see their own full monitor view of the game in a two person gameplay mode rather than watching a split-screen. At the moment the only games that support the feature are MotorStorm Apocalypse, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 3, and Super Stardust HD. Sony said it will be adding titles with SimuView support in the near future. You can also check out how many 3D Playstation 3 games are currently available on the Playstation blog site.
