PlayStation 4 owners will soon be able to stream live on YouTube Gaming and PS Plus members will find their cloud storage boosted from 1GB to 10GB.
These updates and other social-focused features will be included in the next major software update to the Playstation, version 3.00 (codenamed Kenshin).
For those selected to participate in the new PS4 software beta program announced a mere two weeks ago, it has begun.
The key features of version 3.00 include:
- YouTube Gaming Integration – Live streaming on YouTube, including on mobile.
- PS Plus member online storage increase – Amount increased to 10GB. Usage meter added and new Auto-Upload menu added to Application Saved Data Management.
- Events – Personalized activities and broadcasts relevant to the PS4 users gaming habits.
- Favorite Friends Groups & Communities – Gamers can create communities based on shared interests, organize multiplayer gaming sessions
- Share to Twitter – 10 second clips can be directly shared on Twitter
- Request to watch gameplay – Gamers can send a "Request to Watch" notification to start a live broadcast of their friends gameplay or a Share Play invitation.
Curiously, Sony"s John Koller said it is possible not all of the new features in the beta will make the final release version. He did not elaborate whether beta features not included in the final release would be added later on.
Sony did not announce when version 3.00 will be released to the public but they promised to release more info soon.
