Playstation Plus subscribers getting free games and discounts again

Now that the Playstation Store has been restored, subscribers for the premium Playstation Plus service will be able to download free games and get discounts on other games and DLC packs. Plus users haven"t been able to access the service due to the cyber attacks that brought down the Playstation Network on April 20 . The official Playstation blog web site has details of the first two updates for Playstation Plus users. The first is scheduled to launch today while another update will be made on June 7. Today brings a full game trial for EA Sports MMA Live while the MAG Escalation DLC Mission Pack is also free for Playstation Plus users. Other DLC packs and games like Smash Cars and Worms will get discounts.

On June 7, Playstation Plus owners will get the PS1 game Lilo & Stitch for free while they will also get discounts on other games including the first two games in the Deathspank series. On June 9, Playstation Plus owners will get a full game trial for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2.

Sony previously announced that non Playstation Plus subscribers would get 30 free days to use the service as part of the "Welcome Back" package of compensation. So far that "Welcome back" service has yet to be launched. Sony also announced that all Playstation Network users would get two free downloadable PS3 games and two free downloadable PSP games as well but again that compensation deal has yet to be launched.
