Polariod"s Socialmatic camera is now up for pre-order over at Amazon with an expected launch on January 1, 2015.
It has been over 2 years since we first heard about Socialmatic, when its founder Antonio De Rosa, started an Indiegogo campaign to fund the device. Later, Polaroid announced its partnership with the project and now we will finally have the product that is being priced at $299.99 on Amazon.
Socialmatic, which is an Android-based camera, mixes up the instant printing concept associated with Polaroid cameras and modern day mobile photography apps to give users prints of their filtered and customized photos.
The device comes fitted with a 14-megapixel forward-facing snapper and a 2-megapixel user-facing one. Other specifications include a 4.5-inch screen, a GPS receiver, 4 GB of internal storage and support for MicroSD cards up to 32 GB. There is no information regarding the processor or RAM available at the moment.
As Socialmatic runs on Android and features connectivity options such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, users can get online to use it for other purposes such as sharing images on social networks or grab other images for taking prints as well.
Enthusiasts who would like to get this innovative device, should pre-order soon as stocks may be limited.
