Power Automate and Power Apps get new tools and insights

With the launch of the Power Platform and Dynamics 365 2021 release wave 1 in April, Microsoft introduced a bunch of new features for Power Apps and Power Automate as well. While the actual release for these may still take a while, today at its virtual Build conference, the Redmond firm has unveiled some new capabilities for the aforementioned services.

For starters, a new process mining mechanism has been made generally available as part of Power Automate. Dubbed Process Advisor, this capability helps identify activities which are taking the most time and are also being consistently repeated across an organization.

With regards to the additional insights on offer, organization bottlenecks, as well as recommendations for what to automate are provided. Through collaboration with robotic process automation (RPA), users who who do not have much experience with coding can instead implement automation for tasks that are repetitive. As of now, Process Advisor is available in both the per-user plans and per flow with attended RPA.

As far as Power Apps is concerned, new professional development tools to help developers identify and learn the salient components of building low-code solutions have been launched. These include Power Platform integration into the Microsoft 365 Developer plan, a new Power Platform Fusion Development learning path, and a new stand-alone Power Apps Developer plan as well. Through these, developers can make the process of building and testing new experiences better and deliver low-code solutions in their businesses with more efficiency.
