PowerColor, which is one of Radeon"s exclusive add-in-board (AIB) partners, has announced a custom version of the recently released Radeon RX 6700 XT. Dubbed the RX 6700 XT Hellhound, the card is part of an all-new brand launched by the firm.
PowerColor so far has been using the "Red Devil" and the "Red Dragon" monikers for indicating its air-cooled models, while the liquid-cooled version is termed the "Liquid Devil". As is evident from those names, both the air-cooled models come equipped with reddish characteristics, like red LEDs, paints, and such, in order to emphasize the red aesthetic. The water-cooled "Liquid Devil", on the other hand, has a bluish feature probably to indicate water"s color and perhaps also to suggest how cool it runs.
The new Hellhound, however, features blue LEDs - which can be turned off in the Stealth Mode -, and a generally bluish tint, and it seems the company has created the sub-brand to differentiate the variant from the other air-cooled variants that feature the reddish aesthetic.
While specifications of the card haven"t been listed yet, we should expect these to reach very high clocks as the reference game clock of 2424MHz on the 6700 XT is already much higher than those on the RX 6800 series and the 6900 XT. There are reports of the 6700 XT reaching 2950MHz and enthusiast overclockers may certainly be able to hit those limits, at least on some of these samples.
When it comes to the pricing of the 6700 XT Hellhound, PowerColor hasn"t provided any official information, however, it has already been spotted selling online in a Czech Republic store called Bazos for 28,000 CZK which converts to around $1250, nearly thrice the $479 MSRP of the reference variant.
