Last year at Google I/O, the company introduced its first mid-range Pixel phones, the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. A Pixel 4a has been rumored for a while, and if the Mountain View follows the same timeline, then it was planning to announce the device at this year"s I/O in May. There"s only one problem, which is that I/O 2020 has been canceled due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Nevertheless, the device is coming soon, one way or another. And today, the specs have leaked, leaving nothing left to the imagination, thanks to 9to5Google.
Once again, the device will be made out of plastic, and the screen will be a little taller at 5.81 inches. It"s still an FHD+ OLED display though, and the taller resolution is 2340x1080, so it should have roughly the same pixel density. It"s getting a hole-punch for the front camera though, something that even the Pixel 4 series doesn"t have. This should result in narrower bezels.
It"s going to be powered by a Snapdragon 730, an octa-core Kryo 470 CPU with an Agreno 618 GPU. It"s an improvement over the Pixel 3a, which had a Snapdragon 600 series chipset. It should also come with a 3,080mAh battery and 6GB RAM, with 64GB and 128GB storage options. Once again, there"s no wireless charging, but it does have 18W wired charging.
The Pixel 4a includes the square camera housing that we saw on the Pixel 4 series, but it only has a single 12.2MP lens, along with the same eight-megapixel front camera.
Moreover, even the retail packaging leaked today.

At this point, there"s really nothing left to the imagination for the Pixel 4a series. Being that it"s a mid-range, the software features will be a subset of the ones found on the Pixel 4. Don"t expect to get any surprises with this one.
