Although the latest addition to the Dynamics 365 platform was supposed to initially be previewed in April, it has entered the preview phase today, later than the originally announced release. The primary purpose of the rule-based, software-as-a-service (SaaS) application is to provide customers a way to scale and automate order management processes using AI-powered software.
With a focus on complementing legacy ERP systems instead of replacing them, Intelligent Order Management arrives with integration capabilities for existing order infrastructures through microservice architecture and API integrations. Over 200 configurable, out-of-the-box connectors help assist with this process. Its open and modular nature also means that businesses can utilize various order source systems such as online e-commerce marketplaces.
The processes that are part of order source and orchestration and take advantage of the application include automated payment integration, dynamic rule-based pricing, tax determination and compliance, combination of order flows with inventory and fulfillment systems, sourcing and allocation, conditional and rule-based validation, and more. Intelligent Order Management also comes with a reference API in case pre-built partner connectors are not something an enterprise considers suitable for their planned systems.
