Blackberry Messenger is still a thing. The once powerful messaging platform that was exclusive to Blackberry devices was eventually released for iOS, Android and even Windows Phone. Today, the company has updated the service to include a new "Private Chat" feature and a few extra refinements.
The new Private Chat feature will allow users to talk anonymously removing names and profile pictures. This new feature will cost $ 0.99 a month and the full changelog can be found below:
- Private Chat
- Timed messages and pictures
- Retract messages and pictures
- Edit Message (Which is also new to the subscription. Made a mistake? Now you can retract it, change it, and send your message again.)
Although "Private Chat" is the main focus of the update, Blackberry has also made small revisions to the app for Android and iOS. The Blackberry Messenger app for Android will now receive a facelift and the UI will follow Google"s material design found in Android 5.0. Blackberry is also adding a new way to organize sticker collections, a new quote system, and has updated the way fonts are rendered on iOS.
The update is now available on Apple"s App Store and Google"s Play Store. There is no word on a Windows Phone update.
