PS Vita games to be cheaper in downloadable versions

One of the big features for Sony"s PS Vita portable game system is that its retail games, to be sold via memory cards, would also be sold in downloadable form on the Playstation Network and also via download code cards. However, until now Sony has yet to reveal the pricing for the downloadable versions of those games

Now a post on the NeoGAF web site shows a leaked Best Buy pre-order catalog that seems to indicate that PS Vita games that are bought via download codes will in fact be cheaper than buying the same game on one of the PS Vita"s memory cards. The price difference looks to be about 10 percent less for the downloadable games.

The Shacknews web site got a confirmation from a Sony representative about the price difference, saying:

I can confirm that there will be a discount on the downloadable PS Vita titles from PSN. Exact details have not yet been revealed, but be on the lookout for an announcement in the very near future.

This is good news for PS Vita owners who don"t want to be bothered with going to a store and buying memory cards for their game purchases. On the flip side, people who are interested in reselling their PS Vita games at some point might want to stick to purchasing the physical copy of their games.

As we have reported before, the PS Vita makes its official debut in stores in the US and Europe on February 22.
