QNAP launches QSW-M2108R-2C web-managed switch for small businesses

QNAP, a company that specializes in developing networking solutions, has officially launched its QSW-M2108R-2C Ethernet switch. The product is a web-managed switch or a smart switch designed for small businesses. It is actually a half-width rackmount design such that two of these could be put together in a single rack unit (1U) of space and should be good for cable management that rackmount designs are generally known for. The QSW-M2108R-2C is a Layer-2 switch but that should be enough for small businesses which the product aims at.

As seen from the image above, the QSW-M2108R-2C comprises 11 ports in total, among which eight are 2.5GbE RJ45 ports which are labelled as such, two are combo ports (10GbE SFP+/RJ45), while the one towards the far left is the 1GbE RJ45 Management Port. Speaking of management, as stated above, the switch can be web-managed with the help of the provided "user-friendly Web GUI". Being a Layer-2 switch, the QSW-M2108R-2C provides most of the layer-2 functions you"d expect from such a product. They are:

  • Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP),
  • Virtual LAN (VLAN),
  • Access Control List (ACL),
  • Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP), and
  • Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP).

The QSW-M2108R-2C is compliant with IEEE 802.3x and IEEE 802.3az and is compatible with 10GbE and NBASE-T technologies that support five network speeds (10Gbps, 5Gbps, 2.5Gbps, 1Gbps, and 100Mbps).

The product is available for purchase on various sites like Amazon for $399. For more information related to product compatibility, firmware, and such, visit the official QNAP download section of the product here.
