Id Software is calling for workshop speakers for the August event, which will feature a large LAN party and tournaments with prizes totaling $125,000.
The first-come, first-served registration for QuakeCon 2003 general attendees and tournament competitors is now open. This year"s QuakeCon will take place August 14-17 at Adam"s Mark Hotel in Dallas, in a larger space than was available in previous years, when the event was held in Mesquite, Texas.
Id Software has announced an open call for speakers for the QuakeCon 2003 workshops. Last year, the event had more than 20 workshops and roundtable discussions, and id is looking to expand the program to offer attendees a broader, more in-depth view of the industry. Those interested in participating should send a 300-word abstract of the proposed session, a speaker biography, and contact information to Wendy Zaas by June 27.
"Workshops must hit the sweet spot and focus on topics that resonate with the fans," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO at id Software. "Speakers have to compel gamers to leave the BYOC LAN area, step out of the exhibit area, and take a break from tournament action."
