Two weeks ago, we reported that OnePlus is working on a new flagship phone called the 3T. The device was rumored to use Qualcomm"s latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 821. Today, Qualcomm took to Twitter to confirm that OnePlus is indeed working on such a handset.
It appears that the 3T won"t include too many improvements over the OnePlus 3, and the most notable change will be the chipset. Even the Snapdragon 821 is only a modest improvement over the 820. Both chips offer four of Qualcomm"s in-house Kryo cores, but the 821 is clocked at 2.4GHz, while the 820 is clocked at 2.2GHz.
There was also some speculation that the new iteration would offer an IPS LCD, rather than the AMOLED display that"s currently offered in the OnePlus 3. However, OnePlus" Carl Pei denied these rumors, saying that the company would stick with AMOLED.
Qualcomm"s Snapdragon 821 chipset isn"t found in too many new devices just yet, as it was only announced by the company a couple months ago. Google"s new Pixel devices use the new chips, as does the ZenFone 3 Deluxe from ASUS.
