Even with the May 31st launch of the Release Preview version of Windows 8, Microsoft continues to develop new builds of its next operating system as it moves towards the final Release to Manufactoring (RTM) build of Windows 8. This week, the reliable Windows 8 leak news site Winunleaked.info has updated its Windows 8 build version list (free registration required), and this time it has an all new addition.
The build list allegedly includes the latest version number for the x86 (Intel, AMD) version of Windows 8 which is called 8424.0.winmain.120529-1855. However, for the first time, the list also has a build number for the ARM-based version of Windows 8, officially called Windows RT by Microsoft. According to the list, the build number for Windows RT is close to the x86 version, 8424.0.fbl_woa_drop.120530-2000.
Microsoft has already said it plans to release both the x86 version of Windows 8, along with Windows RT, around the same time. However, there will likely be only a few Windows RT hardware products that will be available for launch this fall. One rumor claims there will be as few as five Windows RT-based products released this year, compared to far more for the x86 version of Windows 8.
