Rainbow Six Siege is gaining TDM, a barrier forming operator, and more

Ubisoft is taking its long-term supported tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege to a seventh year of new content. Announced today, beginning Year 7 is Demon Veil, the first of four major updates headed to the game in 2022. It carries Team Death Match as a permanent mode, a brand new operator from Japan, and more.

Joining the Defenders side is Azami, a new Japanese operator carrying Kiba Barrier gadgets. Taking the appearance of Kunai throwing knives, when thrown, these gadgets create hardened, bullet-proof foam barriers that can cover up any opening (from drone holes and doors to hatches) or simply act as new cover.

Team Death Match with full respawns is becoming a standard game mode is Siege. All operators aside from primary shield carriers are available in this mode, regardless of their Attacker or Defender origins. Even duplicate picks are not an issue. Only weapons and grenades are available, however, with no access to gadgets.

While Ubisoft is working on a new map for Siege titled Emerald Plain, it won"t be available alongside the above-mentioned features at the beginning of the season. Instead, a mid-season update will carry the new arena that is modeled after an Irish country club.

In the standard mode, Attacker Repick is coming in as a feature, letting players go back and choose another operator during the Drone phase at the beginning of a round, enabling further adaptation. Other changes include a Goyo gadget rework to remove the shield element altogether, all operators gaining 1X sights, a bug report incentive program (R6fix), Ranked Matchmaking requiring a paired phone number as an anti-cheat measure, and the Match Replay for consoles.

Rainbow Six Siege Demon Veil does not have a release date yet, but it is coming soon. Ubisoft"s full plans for Year 7 of Rainbow Six Siege will be revealed tomorrow with a special road map announcement.
