After a rollout initially scheduled for yesterday morning, the second multiplayer beta for Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege has been delayed. After discovering a range of bugs, primarily relating to multiplayer matchmaking and connectivity, the company decided that the open beta release will be delayed, until these issues can be fixed.
The open multiplayer beta improves upon the public testing session earlier in the year, and aims to enhance stability and connectivity before the game is released next week. As the beta is ongoing so close to release, many gamers are cynical, doubting the developers’ capabilities to deliver a stable experience at launch.
In a post to the Ubisoft forums, Community Manager "Ubi_Jax" gave the following statement:
This Open Beta will ensure the cleanest launch possible. Keep in mind that this beta is intended for this exact reason: find problems and troubleshoot them to ensure the most stable launch possible.
We are confident the game will work as intended since the known issue will be fixed soon. Therefore the launch will not be impacted by this issue.
While the core game may be in a polished state, Rainbow Six: Siege has the potential to become another title which fails to operate has intended at launch, due to networking issues. First triggered by the "broken" launch of Assassin"s Creed: Unity, upcoming titles such as Rainbow Six Siege and Tom Clancy"s: The Division have had their release dates pushed, to ensure they function as intended.
The publisher is set to provide another statement at 10am EST, to further clarify issues, and the beta"s current state.
