Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault announced

The Ratchet & Clank HD Collection may be hitting PS3’s very soon but that doesn’t mean Insomniac games is ending the 10th anniversary of the franchise without a brand new Ratchet & Clank game for the PlayStation 3 platform to show the franchise’s beautiful evolution.

I’d previously stated that the world needed more platform-adventure games and once again, Insomniac has decided to fill in the void. After a brief discussion on Twitter, I’d talked to Insomniac in hopes of finding a little more about what this game is about.

The game will likely be download only and will be “closer to Quest for Booty in size, though it will probably end up longer, but will have much, much more replayability than any other PS3 Ratchet game.” When asked about the possibility of the game being released for the Vita, Insomniac replied with the following statement, “that"s not a bad idea, would be up to Sony and PlayStation to decide to do or not.”

Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault will be named Ratchet & Clank: Q-Force in Europe and will it return to the third-person camera angle and gameplay style of a classic Ratchet & Clank game. Insomniac Games is currently busy with a Facebook game called Outernauts and a multi-platform game called Overstrike under a multi-platform publishing deal with EA. As a result of Insomniac’s busy schedule, we are currently in the dark about whether the new Ratchet game will be the beginning of a new series or whether or not this will conclude Ratchet and Clank’s adventure, but we’ll most-likely find out when the game is available to download in the fall.
