Razer continues expanding its lineup of gaming-dedicated accessories, as the company today announced a couple of new headsets - the Blackshark V2 and Blackshark V2 X. The former of those two is the highlight here, and it"s the direct successor to the Blackshark that launched in 2012.
The Blackshark V2 has a few distinctive features, starting with Razer"s all-new TriForce Titanium 50mm drivers, which the company says can better separate audio frequencies and tune each range individually. The headset also supports THX Spatial Audio, though Razer recently made the technology available to any headset through a special app. Starting August 6, the headset will also have a new feature, THX Game Profiles, which offer game-specific audio profiles certified by the game developers.
The headset also comes with a detachable HyperClear Cardioid mic, which should do a better job of focusing on the user"s voice instead of surrounding sounds, and it should also minimize interference. Additionally, there"s an additional USB sound card included that offers features like Mic Boost, Volume Normalization, Ambient Noise Reduction, and more. Razer also says the over-ear design of the earcups helps cancel out external sounds, which is what it calls passive noise cancellation.
The Razer Blackshark V2 uses a 3.5mm connector so it should work with any device that has one, but the USB sound card only works with Windows 10. It costs $99.99/€109.99 and it"s available starting today.
Razer also introduced the Blacksark V2 X, a cheaper variant of the headset. It uses the non-titanium version of Razer"s TriForce 50mm drivers, and it also doesn"t come with the USB sound card. It includes the same HyperClear Cardioid microphone and passive noise cancellation as the regular Blackshark V2.
The Razer Blackshark V2 X costs $59.99/€69.99 and it"s also available today.
