While Razer has long been known for building gaming hardware, it hasn"t gotten around to making a dedicated gaming monitor in the past. Well, that changes today with the announcement of the Razer Raptor at CES 2019.
The 27-inch gaming monitor features a WQHD (2560×1440) IPS edge-to-edge display surrounded by thin 2.3mm bezels. The display itself supports AMD"s Radeon FreeSync adaptive sync technology for quick response time and its refresh rate is clocked at up to 144Hz. It also covers 95 percent of the DCI-P3 wide color gamut with up to 420 nits of brightness and features HDR for vibrant colors and deep blacks.
Its design is also interesting. The display has a matte-black exterior and an aluminum base, with the screen sitting on a stand with Chroma lighting underneath, which you can customize using the Razer Synapse 3 application. Attached to the back of the stand are cable routing channels to avoid clutter. The Razer Raptor supports various connectivity ports including HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, and USB-A 3.1.
Where productivity is concerned, one of the more interesting features of the display is support for picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture input. With the latter capability, you can have multiple inputs from separate PCs displayed on the Razer Raptor at the same time.
For now, the display is at an early design phase. Razer says the production units will be rolled out later this year in the U.S. and Canada for $699.99.
