While most Xbox 360 games are controlled by a gamepad, there are still some old school gamers who love to play console games with an old fashioned (and big) arcade stick product. This week Razer announced plans to develop and release its own Xbox 360 arcade stick. But in an interesting twist, Razer is asking gaming fans, especially pro gamers, modders and those fans who simply love previous arcade stick products, to provide input on Razer"s version before it comes out.
Razer"s president Robert Krakoff states in the press release, "We’ve been taking feedback from our professional players on products for years and now we want to open it up to the community. That’s why we want every arcade enthusiast and modder’s input in the development of this special arcade stick. In this way, it’s not just our arcade stick; it’s the community’s arcade stick. Together, we will create a weapon that delivers the best fighting performance for every gamer and allows modding to the individual’s exact specifications. We’re not just asking people for input on the paint job, we’re after serious hardware feedback."
People who want to provide Razer with their feedback for its upcoming arcade stick can apply at Razer"s web site. Based on the applications, about 200 people will be selected by Razer for the next phase of the feedback process which will involve Razer actually sending those folks a prototype version of its arcade stick product before the final design is locked. There"s no word on when Razer expects to release its Xbox 360 console arcade stick.
