Razer first introduced its first Razer Blade laptop gaming PC in 2011, although the laptop itself didn"t actually launch until January 2012. The notebook packed some impressive hardware inside. It also had a very high price of $2,799.
This week, Razer announced that it will be releasing a new version of the Blade laptop with some upgraded hardware and, thankfully, a slightly cheaper price of $2,499. The notebook still has a 17.3 inch screen but weights just under seven pounds while being just 0.88 inches thick.
Inside, the Razer Blade has 8 GB of RAM, a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M graphics chip with 2 GB of VRAM, a 500 GB hard drive and a 64 GB SD drive. The processor is made by Intel but Razer isn"t being specific about which Intel chip is inside, saying that it is a "future platform". Yes, that means the processor inside this notebook hasn"t even been announced yet by Intel.
The new version retains Razer"s Switchblade user interface, which means the laptop will have 10 special keys that can change depending on which game is being played on the Blade. It also comes with an LCD placed next to the keyboard that can display in-game information.
Pre-orders for the new Razer Blade start on September 2nd and the notebook starts shipping on September 30th.
